What Do Sea Turtles Do Throughout The Day?
Posted on September 28, 2011 in Uncategorized by adminComments Off

There are times when you may be able to observe some members of the not so social green sea turtle family congregating offshore. Sea Turtles do travel together for the purpose of mating, eating and nesting in order to give birth to their young. The daily habits of sea turtle differ from species to species due to the turtles vulnerability to cold climate changes. For instance, the Green Sea Turtle thrives best in the warm waters located in tropical and subtropical areas of the world. Green sea turtles cannot live in temperatures below 68 degrees F. However, in the right environment, they can live for up to 50 years.

The second largest threat to the survival of the green sea turtles is humankind. Green sea turtles are often hunted for their good tasting meat, and are often hunted during their nesting season because they are easier to find at that time. For this reason laws have been enacted to protect these turtles’ nesting grounds from further exploitation. The food most often eaten by this particular species is, algae, seaweed, and other plants found in the ocean. Basically the lifestyle of the green sea turtle consists of eating, nesting and caring for their young.
